A Few of the Plants of St. John

A hibiscus blossom from one of the plants on the Horrible Hill up to Maho.

Dad was trying to photograph these unusual leaves at Saltpond Bay, and I thought I would make an attempt, too. My camera supposedly has a really close-up macro mode. But these plants were waving and trembling in the wind, and the autofocus on my camera just could not keep up, nor was there any manual override (something I've realized I miss from the SLR). Alas. In this picture, you can sort of make out the shape of the leaves.

Another attempt at photographing the unfamiliar leaves. You can see that I'm trying to steady them with my hiking-booted foot, but it's not working well enough.
